Baby Jackson

Yep, he's cute! Jackson is the little brother of the little girl who steals my heart every year, Lauren. I've photographed Lauren since she was a baby (see older post, cute little blond below), and I look forward to continuing the tradition with this family. Now, if only we can convince Lauren to get near her brother for just one shot next time. Maybe we'll smother him with candy.

Frozen Seniors

Don and I photographed these three girls (Christina, Hannah and M'balu) in less than 20-degree weather in downtown Denver. Rescheduling was not an option since their photos were due to school the next week, so we all froze our booties off. My fingers were so frozen I could barely hold the camera by the end. Check out the two girls attempting to keep their noses from turning pink. Despite the chattering teeth, they were great sports! Thanks, girls!

Lauren & the Ladd Family

Here is more from the session below. I've been photographing Lauren nearly every year since she was a little tiny baby who peed all over the couch we usually use during our session. Now, she is 5 and has a little brother on the way. This is a very special family to me, and Lauren never fails to delight. I've threatened to hire her since she was very interested in coming up with her own poses -- most of which were quite good. I love a girl who knows what she wants!

Daddy's Girl

I love this picture -- I think it says so much about father and daughter relationships. Maybe it's because I have two girls myself or because my own dad is so important in my life, but this one makes my heart melt. I love the contentment on both of their faces and the trust in her eyes.

Little Boys

Recently, I have had a great time seeing old friends and photographing their little boys. Both of these sessions were done with families that were previously wedding clients. These two couples are some of my favorite clients, and I just love when I get to meet their children and stay involved in their lives to see how their stories unfold.

Meet Nash. Poor baby -- it was so cold that day, but he was a trooper.

And this is Miles. Cute, right?

Look at that face! I love Katie. The quintessential almost-two-year-old, she is lively and full of energy. I mean, really full of energy. Mom, Dad and I chased her around for an hour, and even my "Nemo's inside my camera lens" trick that usually gets small children to quizzically peer inside only worked on her for about two seconds. She's very smart. I've photographed Katie for the past two years, and I hope her parents call me every fall because I just love her.

Tiny Dancer

Isabela is becoming quite the little dancer. We started her in ballet and tap a little more than a year ago, and she is really enjoying it and looking forward to Saturday mornings. Of course, it doesn't hurt that her teachers at Rocky Mountain School of Dance are rock stars! This is her preparing for her Christmas recital to Silent Night.

Krista & Kris -- San Francisco

We tagged along with Krista & Kris to photograph their wedding in San Francisco. What a great experience! They made their wedding uniquely them and uniquely San Francisco -- complete with cable cars to view the Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco weather can be unpredictable, but they lucked out with beautiful, cloud-free skies all day. We thank the two of you so much for including us in your wedding. The entire family was kind and fun, and you could feel the love! Enjoy!

If you have girls, you see a lot of these things: pink, glitter, lipgloss, pink, princesses and pink. When Bela (my oldest daughter) tried on the biggest size available in these fabulous skirts, I realized how fleeting this moment is. There very well may be a time when my girls dress in all black and shun their beloved pink. There will inevitably come a time when their princess dolls are put away in boxes, and they trade in the glitter for a more conservative lip color. So let's all celebrate girliness, frills, glitter, tiaras, fairies and of course, pink -- while we can.

I hope you enjoy the pictures of my beautiful girls. Those of you on my Christmas card list need to act surprised when these pictures show up on your card.

Krista was instrumental in the locations for this engagement session in Boulder. She even got us into Jax Fish House while it was closed, which had the cool graffiti walls. See you next week!

They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck. I wonder what kind of luck it is if you have a rained out engagement session. Then, as if that weren't enough, you have a downpour right before your ceremony, a rainbow, snow in August and a little sun all on your wedding day. I'm no fortune teller, but I'd say a lifetime of good luck is headed your way. Megan and Evan got married at Devils Thumb Ranch (one of our favorite places), and despite all the weather, they were the laid-back, fun couple they've always been, which makes them so darn lovable. We love you guys! Here's to sunshine on your honeymoon!

Meet Jenny -- the first of our 2009 seniors. She is an artist, a cool chick, and she has the most stunning blue eyes I've ever seen. We weren't sure if we were going to beat the rain as the clouds started rolling in. But, the clouds made for great lighting, and Jenny was willing to literally "run" through some of the last poses as the rain began to fall. Thanks for being so much fun!

2008 Festival of Dance

This past week was Festival for my daughter Isabela, age 4. This being our first Festival, we weren't quite sure what we were in for. It was slightly intense, but we had a great time, and she is a fabulous dancer!

I have small children. I know the hard work involved with having small children, and I'm pretty convinced that parents of twins under the age of 5 are saints. Meet Ava and Marley -- their mother is St. Sonja, a former boss of mine and a forever friend. Are they not the cutest? When I first walked into their home for the photo shoot, Marley (the dark-haired one), was not my biggest fan. She literally screamed in terror for the first 20 minutes or so, which freaked me out since most babies love me. Apparently, she's scared of strangers, especially those who enter her home. Who needs a watchdog when you have a 15-month-old? But, we quickly became friends, and I'm pretty sure she loved me by the end.

Every once in a while, a wedding comes along that reminds us why we do what we do. Last weekend, we had the privilege of photographing Kelsey and Kellen's wedding. While we don't know them very well, we have known and loved their family for years. But, the thing about Kelsey and Kellen is you don't need to know them well to love them -- that comes quickly. They are wonderful, loving, funny people. Their wedding? It was heartfelt, emotional and a rockin' party. Did I say emotional? Yeah, there was one bridesmaid who had us in tears -- Kristen, you know who you are. Thank you for letting us be a part of your day. It was truly an honor.
